“The Carlton came to me for the princely sum of £15 from the ‘household recycling centre’ whilst dropping of some garden clippings for the mother in law. It was in a bit of a state but it was a Reynolds 531 tubed Carlton Corsa, with a few choice parts.
I Saved the cranks, front hub, brakes, handlebars, and stem. Everything else was sourced either new or new old stock where possible. The frame was blasted, powder coated, and had new decals fitted. The whole project was then assembled ready to ride at Eroica Britannia 2016 dripping in Campagnolo parts! Lovely!
Eroica Britannia was great fun and the Carlton performed admirably, a super smooth steel steed that climbed the cols of the peak district with ease!
Its one of nine in my current collection (n+1!), but it’s up there as one of the best…….. and you can check them out at www.bournemouthcyclist.co.uk” – Jon Street
